I enjoyed the challenge. I hope to go again. Susan was extremely knowledgeable. Very personal offered good 1:1 feedback. I love the lesson on adding value to my painting. I intend on doing the lesson over to practice. I know I can do it better. It was good stuff.

The carnation is one of two flowers for January... The inspiration for my painting of a red and pink carnation came from the emotions these flowers represent. The bold red symbolizes love and admiration, while the soft pink brings to mind gratitude and warmth. I loved how these two colors complement each other, creating a mix of strong and gentle feelings. As I painted, I focused on the delicate layers of the petals and how the colors blended, trying to capture both the beauty and the emotion th

Old neon signs intrigue me. The patina of age on the metal. The way the sun reflects in the glass tubing and the shadows they cast. I abstract them by cropping them tightly and shooting them at an angle that might mimic a viewers glance. This sign in downtown Gilbert on the Liberty Market caught my eye on our first visit to Gilbert before we moved here from Oregon. It?s downtown treasure! Watercolor on Arches 140 lb. I painted this for a challenge posted on the Art by Paul Clark FB group page. The reference photo was taken in Devonshire, England. I used a Bee Paper sketchbook and miscellaneous paints. I?ve been working on learning dry brush technique in watercolor for a while I I think I?ve finally mastered it as evidence by the trees in this one.

I like lines more than paint. Watercolor is the perfect medium for someone like me who loves line work. Thin paper sketchbooks are my favorite surface to work in?.nothing is precious and you can have fun?.to me, that is what art should be?.Fun! These ladies are part reference and part imagination. I loved how the spread turned out?.soooooo me.

My two sons both moved to Arizona for work and we missed them so much we immediately began trying to create a path for us to move to the Phoenix area. This painting was an attempt to paint desert themed flora to feel closer to them. We now live in a suburb of Phoenix and love the unique beauty found in the desert!

I have several Magnolia trees in my yard and this is one of the flowers from this years blooms. The mockingbird is straight out of my imagination, and the combination of it with the flower gives the viewer a taste of spring in the South.

I am very new to painting and took this up as a way to unwind and take my mind off the day to day stresses of life (it is my form of therapy!). Things were getting tough for me and I was struggling I started practicing meditation and found it helped me so much that it inspired me to paint this picture. The painting is me (my inner self) looking out to the world, the mountains are in muted colours and I am surrounded by so many lovely colours. The lovely colours represent the strengths, love, fa
