I enjoyed the challenge. I hope to go again. Susan was extremely knowledgeable. Very personal offered good 1:1 feedback. I love the lesson on adding value to my painting. I intend on doing the lesson over to practice. I know I can do it better. It was good stuff.

I live in Arizona . Working wet in wet is a real challenge. In order to keep the paper moist throughout the process, I wet it under the water faucet, front and back, then place it on a clear piece of acrylic. The whole purpose of this piece is to practice blending opposite colors without them turning muddy, and keeping the yellows from turning green. Preserving the light is key. I like to have three distinct areas of light in my paintings for the eye to follow. No reference photo required

I am a self-taught watercolor and furniture artist in Buckeye, Arizona. This art is one of three that I have created for our master bathroom project. I have big plans to stencil the walls with a honeycomb design first, before hanging my art. I can't wait to see the finish. Bees have become a special connection for me on social media, as my bee art has given joy to others.

The carnation is one of two flowers for January... The inspiration for my painting of a red and pink carnation came from the emotions these flowers represent. The bold red symbolizes love and admiration, while the soft pink brings to mind gratitude and warmth. I loved how these two colors complement each other, creating a mix of strong and gentle feelings. As I painted, I focused on the delicate layers of the petals and how the colors blended, trying to capture both the beauty and the emotion th

Old neon signs intrigue me. The patina of age on the metal. The way the sun reflects in the glass tubing and the shadows they cast. I abstract them by cropping them tightly and shooting them at an angle that might mimic a viewers glance. This sign in downtown Gilbert on the Liberty Market caught my eye on our first visit to Gilbert before we moved here from Oregon. It?s downtown treasure! Watercolor on Arches 140 lb. I painted this for a challenge posted on the Art by Paul Clark FB group page. The reference photo was taken in Devonshire, England. I used a Bee Paper sketchbook and miscellaneous paints. I?ve been working on learning dry brush technique in watercolor for a while I I think I?ve finally mastered it as evidence by the trees in this one.

This painting was done with various brands of watercolor on Arches cold press. The reason behind it is healing so if you notice, the heart and roses in the back look decomposed while the rose in front of the top of the heart are coming back to life.

This young woman was waiting for a ceremony to begin that I was attending. She lives in West Africa and was wearing a string of random beads that my African friends prefer. Her expression was open but patient and knowing. I thought some of her grandmother's wisdom must have come to her, just like the necklace.
